Breaking Through the Noise | The Winn Group

Breaking Through the Noise

by  Beth DeLemos, Director of Client Relations

In this day and age, everywhere we go, we are overrun and inundated with advertisements. The question is, why do you choose to look at and pay attention to the ads that you do?  The answer is simple – for some reason, that piece, video, book or commercial broke through your noise! Think about it this way: You are walking through a bookstore. Do you, option A, pick up and read the backs of one or two books, or option B, walk down every aisle and pick up and read the back of every book in order to decide what book you want to read next?

Option A, of course! You have subconsciously trained yourself to pass up everything that you consider “noise,” and to take a look at anything that passes through your fabulous filter – a filter that, for the most part, doesn’t ask your permission anymore.

So, what we at The Winn Group endeavor to do everyday, is to help non-profit & cause-centric organizations all over the world break through the noise of all the other thousands of groups out there competing for ears to hear.

With all of this competition going on, it should just make sense for you to have a professional brand designed uniquely for your organization. There should be no question that you need to work with experts to develop a concise statement of why you do what you do that will grab the attention of the audience you need to hear your voice.

Think about this:

I have met literally hundreds of churches that let a person with minimal experience design their logo because they were members of their church, and they were offering to do it for free or simply because the church leaders didn’t know how to say no. Then they spend anywhere from $10,000 to $30,000 or more to have a new outdoor sign made with this logo on it; they put the logo on their website and t-shirts and everywhere else. But what if their free logo isn’t designed to break through the noise? What if after they’ve sunk all this money on this free design, they still aren’t being heard, and now changing it could cause a church-split?

What I’m saying is that your organization has a mission to make a difference in the world, and we understand that you want to put every dime possible toward that goal. That is why it is so important to understand the value of consulting from the beginning with a professional ad agency to help you establish a brand that puts you in an amazing category… ABOVE THE NOISE! By investing a little in the design of your brand, you will save a lot in the long run but more importantly, you will be HEARD by the audience that desperately needs to hear you!
