For his 17th Birthday, Justin Bieber asked friends, family, and fans to forego presents and donate $17 to charity:water. His goal was to raise $17,000 by his birthday. With almost 2 months to go, he has already raised over $46,000.
Gap runs an annual campaign giving a 30% off coupon to customers to shop online, and then donating 5% of their total amount spent to one of their non-profit partners in the campaign. Since 2008, they have raised over $9 million dollars for these charities.
While you may not be able to get Justin Bieber or Gap to support your mission, you certainly know someone who can amplify your voice. That’s why it’s so important to share your vision with all your friends. You may not even be aware of the places your friends can take your cause; they just need you to ignite the fire in their hearts, too.
My suggestion is that you take some time, grab some coffee & think about all the people that you know well & the folks that you haven’t talked to in a while. If you aren’t sure what they are doing now, you should reconnect with them via email or linkedin, or the good ole fashioned telephone. And one more piece of advice… find out how you can help them too!
