Maybe you’ve never heard of a favicon before, but you’re probably more familiar with it than you think. Look up at the address bar in your web browser. Do you see that little circle with a star enclosed in front of our site address? It’s our logo, but the generic term for that little icon is favicon.
In the grand scheme of things, the favicon is little noticed… unless it’s missing. When we surf the internet, bookmark or add pages to our favorites, we’re bound to see these little guys, and somewhere in our subconscious minds we make judgements about the professionalism, creativity and/or relevance of a website partially based on their favicon or lack thereof.
While a missing favicon is unlikely to completely derail the success of your website, it’s a detail that adds polish and a sense of completeness that tells your visitors, no detail is too small. So don’t forget the favicon when designing your website! Or call us: all our web design packages include favicons.
